Chaplain Larry Witherspoon had a stroke on Tuesday evening, 16 December 2008. He underwent surgery at Kaiser Hospital, in Fontana and has returned to consciousness. He is currently in the Intensive Care Unit and improving, the breathing-assist apparatus has been removed. He has opened his eyes and is very responsive. So much that visitors have been restricted because he gets too excited! Great news, there. His mind is functioning and he can answer questions. They are keeping him very sedated, as his blood pressure goes very high when stimulated by visitors. Larry still has a tracheotomy and is progressing slowly, very slowly in physical therapy and the extent of damage is unknown. Communication is limited to open eyes and hand squeezing in a yes/no form. Please pray for his recovery and comfort for his wife Sheila and his family who are incredibly worried for him.
