29 May 2009 - Thanksgiving and Prayer Request

Corinne Cook underwent completely successful major surgery Friday 22 May 2009, in Saint Louis. Please read the note from her father, TW:

Dear Friends and Family,

Dr. Parks completed the rhizotomy around 6:00 PM last Friday. Corinne spent one night in PICU then five nights in a normal hospital room. According to Dr. Parks the surgery was a complete success, we can see a remarkable difference in her legs and feet. She was released Wednesday afternoon but weather in the St Louis area prevented a smooth ride home. We left yesterday morning with a low overcast and rain but very smooth flight home. Per our request STL departure vectored us around all buildups and turbulence, great guys to work with. Our experience with St Louis Children's Hospital was the best ever, though we hope you or your love ones never need to visit. Corinne starts physical therapy today and hopefully she will be walking unassisted in about three weeks. Kathy is hoping sooner, loading and unloading a wheelchair can be a workout. Daily physical therapy is prescribed for four months, here again mom is hoping for a quick discharge.

We were excited to leave the hospital, but wheeling Corinne out we walked past twenty occupied rooms. Your heart goes out to these kids and their families. Some have been here for months or longer and some will not leave. Your prayers for our precious little girl were answered, but we ask that you pray for those still being treated.

Thanks again for your prayers and concern.

The Cooks.
